seoWhat is SEO?

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. And the phrase improve your SEO strategy encompasses the actions taken to ensure your website can be found in a search engine’s results page when searching for words or phrases relevant to the content on your website.

 What does Social SEO mean?

Social SEO refers to the idea that social media links and interaction play a considerable part in a website’s search rankings. It sounds complicated (and, in reality it is) but basically SEO is all about optimizing content—whether it’s on your website or on a social media platform—in order to appear higher in search rankings

4 SEO Tasks Small Businesses Must Do Every Month

  1. Identify Demand
  2. Create Great Content
  3. Tune Content
  4. Track & Promote

You already know that great SEO can move your site into the top positions of the search engine result pages, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. A high quality SEO campaign can do so much more than just optimize your site for a search engine.

One of the biggest advantages is in the way that using SEO can improve your website overall. By focusing on improving navigation, correctly labeling links using anchor text, and adding regular content, you’re not only making a site that search engines will deem relevant, you’re also creating a site that your users will get more out of. Each improvement benefits your users more than it benefits your page rank.

domain-nev-seoWhat is a Domain?

In today’s business world, a domain name and a web presence are a must. Your domain name is your online identity, which allows Internet users from around the world to locate and browse your web site 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It can be used as your email address and your web address. A domain name can also be used as a supplemental pointer to your existing site name (ie. flowerdelivery.com may be bought as a separate domain name and pointed to your site

What is Web Hosting? A web hosting service is a type of Internet hosting service that allows individuals and organizations to make their website accessible via the World Wide Web.

What is the difference between domains vs hosting vs website?

When you have a site visitor, they use your domain name to view your website. As simple as it seems, there is a process that occurs from the time that the site visitor types in your domain and presses enter.

When a site visitor enters your domain name into a browser, the domain is then translated into your server IP address, and then the server sends that user your site files, which their browser represents to them as a typical web page. You can see that, without each of these 3 elements, you won’t really have a web-site.

The three basic parts that make up any current day website are:

  • Domain Names
  • Web-Hosting Servers
  • Site Files

web_hosting_imgWe would not recommend hosting your website from your own home. Web hosting can be a laborious business as server maintenance has some demanding, and sometimes expensive, requirements that must be met in order to maintain the quality and consistency desired for hosting a website.

To run your own server from home, you would need:

  • A powerful computer to handle multiple processor requests at the same time
  • To keep your computer on 24 hours a day, every day; and keep it secure from hackers and free from viruses
  • To install your own control panel, mail server, FTP server, database software and more
  • To purchase licenses in order to have all the server side software you are used to getting, some of which can be expensive
  • To fix all of your own problems and support your own installations
  • A super fast internet connection and an agreement with your Internet Service Provider (ISP) to allow you to accept constant, heavier-than-normal traffic (this part will get very expensive)

In the end, it is much more practical to pay a small amount to receive hosting services from a trusted company.
